So I am taking a little break from the colouring to get the orthographic done. I can catch up with the colouring later but at the moment seeing what the character and the outfit looks like from the front, side and back is a bit more important. I can also block colour the orthograph but as I am using this as a base for my model it is best to leave it clean so I can work from it more easily. The Xenogears/Xenosaga reference was greatly needed when it came to some aspects of the outfit. I have not copied any outfits but the reference for what I wanted the character to wear came from there. As an example here are a few images that I used as reference as well as the front of the character I am drawing.

So I have started the colouring on her body a bit more now. Havent fully decided on the colours but I thought I would add some pink as it is a nice and vibrant colour to add contrast to the dark. I still struggle with shading things that are not faces. No matter how much reference I get or look at or study, I just cant seem to do it which is why the light panel on the right looks stupid.

So this is what I have been doing today. It took m e double time because I lost the first version. I was not a happy person but anyway, we live we learn.

Just a rough sketch that I have done for the character. She still has the horn but instead I have added a touch of Xenogears to her so she looks a bit more sci-fi. I think when it has more colour on it, I can make it look more sci-fi because it doesnt look too much different than the original design.

I also got a bit lazy when it came to the feet.

U P D A T E

Although there is nothing visual to update I can tell you that I am working on a new version of the character that I am creating. Through some advice I was given I am going to draw a more mechanical version of the character.

Whether or not this will be a final version is yet to be decided but we shall see. Will post the sketch when it is somewhat finished.

So I thought that adding some colour to the page would be nice hence the edited html and custom banner made by me. This will probably change when I have a new flavour of the week.

So keeping in with the relevence of this blog, this is the image that I am working on for a quick facial design of Maxilla.  I am only painting the face at the moment as each part of her needs the same detail and this is the first colour image I have done of her at the moment.  The body will come next as will alternate costumes etc etc.

I also got her name from the Latin word for 'upper or lower jaw, cheek and to chew' which seemed relevent.  Might change it as it is only a working title.  Also here is some random GFXery.  The 'new dante' one is an entry for the latest Sig of the Week on Animerender and the other one is the winner of last weeks. And finally a large(ish) wallpaper.
